She began her hair styling journey in 2004 when she worked at a salon in Fremont. There she focused on improving basic hair styling techniques for two years. Afterwards, she worked at a salon in Oakland’s Chinatown where she continued honing her skills. During that time, Ella also volunteered at a local senior center providing haircare services to the elderly and disabled residents. In 2009, Ella opened Claremont Hair Salon in Oakland. As a first-time small business owner, she encountered a lot of obstacles affiliated with English being her third language. Ella challenged herself to openly converse with her diverse clientele in order to improve her grasp of English. Now, she confidently offers her services in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. It has been an amazing journey for Ella.
